It’s a basic fact that Americans love to overlook: The Iraq War is illegal. It is against international law to invade, occupy, and plant a puppet government in another country without extreme provocation. None other than the Secretary General of the United Nations has pointed this out.

No matter. Here in the USA, we have more important crimes to deal with - like inciting people to honk their horns.

You read that right. Inciting people to honk their horns is considered more of a crime here in the United States than starting an illegal war.

How can I say such an outrageous thing? Well, it’s true, for one thing. George W. Bush has not been arrested or convicted, or even investigated, for the crime of starting an illegal war. But, in Detroit, Victor Kittila was hauled off by the police because he stood at the corner of Woodward Avenue and Nine Mile Road, holding a sign that read, “Honk if You Want Bush Out”. They’re going to put him on trial for this supposed crime.

They say Kittila was engaged in disorderly conduct because a huge number of cars were honking their horn in approval of his protest sign. That’s not disorder. That’s free speech. You want disorderly conduct? Look at the war in Iraq.

Instead of throwing antiwar protesters into jail, we might want to pay attention to the fact that so many cars were honking at Victor Kittila’s sign. That tells me that opposition to the Iraq War has a huge amount of support - support that George W. Bush’s criminal regime cannot muster, no matter how many times it wraps itself in the flag.
